The Pakistan High Commission has said the latest threat by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) against Pakistani actors shows that environment in India is not conducive for events like 'Aalishan Pakistan' exhibition, and thus, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has called it off.
"The environment here is not conducive for such an event. We have seen in the past how right-wing parties reacted to such Pakistani events. The latest move by MNS against the Pakistani artistes is the point in this case," the Pakistan High Commission said in a statement.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) said on Friday the fair that was aimed at showcasing Pakistani goods in India in September-October has been cancelled due to the current tensions between the two countries, which is beyond TDAP's control.
The TDAP held the first edition of the event in 2012 and second in 2014.
Relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have soured following the Uri terror attack on an army base in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of eighteen soldiers.
