Nepal's envoy to India, Deep Upadhyay, on Thursday lauded the Indian Government for its relief and rescue efforts in his earthquake-hit nation, saying that Indian rescue
teams had done a quick and a nice job.
"They have done a quick and nice job. There is no problem from India's side, whatever we need from India, we get it," Deep Upadhyay told ANI here.
"After the earthquake, rescue work has almost completed, relief work is going on, other things we will discuss" he added.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh felicitated the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for its rescue and relief operations in Nepal and added that the organisation has made a 'separate identity' for itself following its endeavours.
Singh said that ever since he had become the home minister, he has only heard praises of the NDRF and never heard a word of criticism against the organisation.
"I did not have enough knowledge about the role of the NDRF before joining the ministry. But ever since the first incident where they helped in the Malin landslide, I have only heard praises of the NDRF and never heard anything bad about them," he added.
Singh further added that he was extremely proud when Nepal's Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had appreciated the NDRF's accomplishments.
Nepal was devastated by a massive earthquake on April 25, which measured 7.9 on the Richter scale and resulted in the deaths of over 7,500 people. It is being viewed as one of the worst calamities suffered by Nepal in over 80 years.
Sixteen teams of NDRF, 50 members each had been deployed in various areas of Nepal.
The death toll has risen to 7,557 while the number of injured has reached 14,536, according to reports.
Nepal has experienced many aftershocks since the 7.9 magnitude quake.
