Senior BJP leader and leader of the opposition in the Karnataka assembly K.S. Eshwarappa on Saturday drew criticism for his another appalling remarks on rape as he asked a woman journalist "what can the opposition members do if someone drags and rapes her".
"You (woman journalist) are here, if someone takes you and rapes you, then what the opposition can do," Eshwarappa told the media here.
Eshwarappa's remarks evoked angry reactions from the ruling party leaders, with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah saying, "When has Eshwarappa ever made a sensible statement?"
Eshwarappa had earlier, too, found himself in the eye of a storm over his poser to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K J George on whether they will have feelings for victims of sexual assault in the state only if their daughters are "raped".
