Everton boss Roberto Martinez has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, as Martinez has impressed Wenger and the rest of Arsenal's hierarchy with the style of play he demands.
The former Swansea City and Wigan Athletic manager's stock has reportedly risen even higher following his work at Everton this season.
According to the Daily Star, speculations are that discussions have already been held within Arsenal about the suitability of Martinez as Wenger's eventual replacement as the club has poised to confirm that Wenger has signed a new contract, expected to be for two years, with his current deal expiring at the end of this season.
Martinez was appointed a four-year contract at Everton in the summer following David Moyes' exit to Manchester United, the report added.
