Everton has climbed into the top four of the Premier League following a 1-0 victory away to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, extending their winning run to seven.
While Sunderland was left seven points adrift of safety, Everton leapfrogged Arsenal to take a two-point advantage in the race for the fourth and final Champions League place.
According to Sport24, Wes Brown scored an own goal by turning a cross from Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu in to his own net quarter of an hour before the end to seal a victory for his rival side Everton and pushed his own bottom-placed team closer to relegation.
The victory extended Everton's winning lead to seven for the first time since they last won the title in 1987, the report added.
