Ex-Australian bowler blasts Smith over 'boring' captaincy in Perth Test

Former Australian fast bowler Rodney Hogg has criticised Steve Smith for his 'boring' captaincy against New Zealand in the second Test in Perth.

The match ended in a stalemate after Smith delayed his fifth day declaration in order to make it impossible for New Zealand to implement a run chase.

Expressing disappointment over the match result, Hogg said that Smith wouldn't come up with a high winning percentage as captain if he was going to come up with such boring declarations, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Hodd said that the game of cricket was not about statistics anymore and insisted that the public wants results and entertainment. He urged the new skipper to give them a little bit more entertainment on the final day.

Australia are leading the three-match series 1-0 and will take on New Zealand in the third Test, which starts at the Adelaide Oval on November 27.
