Former boxing champion Anthony Small, who held light middleweight championships in Great Britain, was one of three London men who is on trial for allegedly trying to sneak off to Syria to join IS.
According to reports, the prosecution's case is they intended to travel to Syria to join and support the IS, TMZ.com reported prosecutor Richard Whittam as saying.
Small, Michael Coe and Simon Keeler were arrested last year on terror-related charges. Prosecutors have alleged that Small tried to smuggled jihadists from United Kingdom into Syria, where they would then perform acts of terror in support of IS.
Small had converted to Islam at the age of 24 in 2012 and made a YouTube video in which in which he said that he quit boxing because the sport took place in venues where Muslims were forbidden to enter because of the presence of gambling, alcohol and ring girls.
