Former Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon has said that he would have sacked Madrid's manager if they had performed as Manchester United did under new manager David Moyes.
United has had their worst season so far under Moyes and their 2-0 first leg defeat to Olympiakos has left them on the brink of a costly last-16 Champions League exit, the report mentioned.
According to the Daily Star, Calderon said that he would definitely change the manager if Madrid finished sixth and failed to reach the Champions League the next season
United are reportedly at the sixth position with an 11-point gap between themselves and the Premier League top four.
Calderon said that it is real 'disaster in every sense' not to be in European League, not only in terms of money the clubs get from playing in the competition but also from the club sponsors.
Calderon further added that United would have to deal with losing as much as 100 million pound both in television rights and the reductions in sponsorship money as the deals are linked to the Champions League.
However, Moyes' future at the club would be decided by United's financial supremos, led by Richard Arnold, the report added.
The club's sponsors and investors are reportedly looking for a dramatic recovery from United's more than 250 million pound loss in eight months, failing which Moyes would be at the mercy of the moneymen.
