Sri Lanka has invited former Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as chief guest at a power and energy conference to be held in Colombo on June 26 and 27.
Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka had visited New Delhi recently to invite India's former president.
The objective of the symposium, according to a Colombo Page report, is to facilitate an exchange of knowledge among energy policy makers, researchers, academia, and industry; who seek solutions to problems of energy economy, sustainability of resources, and effectiveness of energy use in the economy.
This is expected to enable the Ministry to formulate programs and projects on the basis of evidence collected systematically for implementation of policies, the spokesperson said.
