Former Sri Lanka coach Paul Farbrace has said that the opportunity to work with the England national team is 'beyond his wildest dreams'.
The former Kent wicketkeeper, who is England's new assistant coach, had met with returning head coach Peter Moores and a handful of players at the National Performance Centre in Loughborough, hours after his release from Sri Lanka Cricket was completed.
According to the BBC, Farbrace, who also worked as Sri Lanka's assistant coach before returning to work with Yorkshire's second XI, admitted that the switch has come at an awkward time for all concerned but could not resist the lure of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), his home board, as it was beyond his 'wildest dreams'.
Farbrace also said that it is not easy to put aside the good relationships that he had developed with the Sri Lankan players, especially now when his team would be playing against them, although he is now enthused about the challenge ahead.
Farbrace had been in his post only since December, during which time he had led the Sri Lankans to success in the Asia Cup and World Twenty20, the report added.
