A former US-Afghanistan commander has said that the country faces a danger of a civil war once the foreign troops withdraw by the end of 2014.

In an interview with the BBC, General Stanley McChrystal, who led Nato troops in Afghanistan from June 2009 until June 2010, said that the West still needed to show its commitment to Afghanistan even after troops withdrawal.

General McChrystal said the greatest danger facing the country was the possibility of different groups vying for control.

He, meanwhile, denied of the risk of the Taliban taking over the country, adding that it did not have that strength and capacity to do so.
