Expatriates in South Asia have ranked Bangladesh capital Dhaka as the most expensive city in South Asia.
They were taking part in a survey conducted by the American human resource consultancy firm Mercer.
According to the Mercer Survey, Dhaka currently ranks as the 117th most expensive city in the world. In the South Asian context, however, the Bangladesh capital is more expensive Jakarta (119), Manila (125), Hanoi (131), Ho Chi Minh City (135), Mumbai (140), New Delhi (157), Chennai (185), Bangalore (196) and Kolkata (205).
The survey, which comparatively measured 211 cities on over 200 categories of goods and services, was published a week ago, reports the Daily Star.
Headquartered in New York, Mercer is one of the largest consulting firms in the world, operating internationally in more than 140 countries.
