Expedia acquires Travelocity for 280 million dollars

Travel giant Expedia has acquired booking site Travelocity for a whopping 280 million dollars.

According to ABC News, Travelocity has now joined Expedia's growing portfolio as the world's fifth-largest corporate travel management company.

The U.S. based company already owns a dozen travel sites including Hotels.com, Hotwire and Egencia.

It is reported that since 2013, Expedia Inc. has been powering Travelocity's U.S. and Canadian websites and providing Travelocity access to Expedia hotel supply and customer service program following a deal finalized earlier.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Expedia, Inc. said in a statement that Travelocity is one of the most recognized travel brands in North America, offering thousands of travel destinations to more than 20 million travelers per month.
