Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has triggered yet another controversy on social media by stating that women racing drivers would not be taken seriously in the sport.
The 85-year-old Briton raised doubts whether a women racer would physically be able to drive an F1 car quickly as compared to their male counterparts, Sport24 reported.
His comments elicited strong reaction on micro-blogging site Twitter, with IndyCar driver Pippa Mann responding quickly by saying women have enjoyed success in the series' despite driving harder cars to drive.
Earlier, Ecclestone had stirred controversy when he compared women to domestic appliances.
The high-octane motor-racing sport has not had a woman driver start a grand prix since 1976.
