The Football Association (FA) chairman Greg Dyke has said that FIFA boss Sepp Blatter reminds him of something out of North Korea at times and compared the world football governing body's chairman to Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

Dyke said that no one believes FIFA was right to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar and that it is now universally accepted the blistering desert heat means the tournament would be held midway through the domestic season.

Dyke called on Blatter to Blatter to step down and announced England would not bid for another World Cup while he remained in power, The Mirror reported.

Dyke told the Commons culture and sport committee that Blatter wields power in a similar way to Korean dictator Jong-un, adding that it was 'hail to the leader'.

FIFA's decision to hand the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar has been marred by widespread accusations of corruption. Leaked emails published in the English press suggested that certain FIFA executives used huge amount of money to influence the votes of key officials.

Dyke sidestepped those issues yesterday but called on Blatter to honour his previous pledge not to stand again as FIFA President. He said Blatter sees England as the enemy and that while he remains in power, the FA will switch its focus to trying to secure UEFA-run events such as the European Championships, which was last held in England in 1996.

Dyke said that the FA has taken a decision that they would not bid for FIFA tournaments while Blatter is there, as they would not win.
