Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been indicted with misconduct by the Football Association (FA) on account of criticizing match referee after his side's 1-1 draw with Southampton in their previous encounter.

Earlier, Mourinho alleged that there was a campaign against Chelsea, adding that he didn't know why there was that campaign.

During the match, Cesc Fabregas was booked by referee Anthony Taylor for diving after going down in the box under Matt Targett's challenge. Commenting on the incident, he said that everybody knew it was a penalty.

Releasing a statement, FA said that it was alleged his remarks constituted improper conduct in that they alleged and/or implied bias on the part of a referee or referees and/or bring the game into disrepute, the BBC reported.

Charged with misconduct, Mourinho has been given time till 13 January to respond to the charge.
