Facebook has reportedly added new tools to provide help to users who may be feeling suicidal.

According to the Verge, in a blog post, Facebook announced it has worked with mental health organizations including the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Now Matters Now to find the proper way to offer assistance through the social network.

Facebook says that if it comes across profiles of users indicating suicidal tendencies in them, then it would encourage them to speak with a mental health expert at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and will ensure support to help them deal with whatever issues they may be going through.

The social network site says that it came up with the methods in "conjunction with our clinical and academic partners."

The updates will be available to US users over the coming months. Facebook says it's working to improve its suicide prevention tools across the globe, the report added.
