Facebook has reportedly trashed Princeton researchers study claiming that the social network will lose 80% of its users by 2015-2017.
The study concluded that there was an online decline in Facebook usage following a drop in the frequency of searches for Facebook in 2012.
Taking a dig at Princeton researchers, Facebook's data analysts used Princeton's "correlation equals causation" methodology of tracking Google search volume to conclude that Princeton would lose all of its students by 2021, Tech Crunch reported.
Calling the report utter nonsense, a Facebook spokesperson said that report that Princeton put out is flawed throughout.
Facebook went on to add that Google Trends search scores for Princeton shows a substantial drop and asked the research organization to be more concerned about the decline in percentage of "Princeton" papers in journals.
