Ashes debutant James Faulkner has expressed his awe at receiving the baggy green Test cap from Australian spin legend Shane Warne, although Warne himself had dismissed the iconic emblem as 'silly'.
According to News.com.au, Warne had made it clear on day three of the final Ashes Test at The Oval that he was not such a great fan of the baggy green or former captain Steve Waugh's emphasis on it.
However, the fast bowling all rounder said that he is honoured to receive the cap from Australia's greatest wicket-taker before the opening day of the last Test, adding that he will never forget and will treasure this moment forever.
Faulkner also said that Warne had advised him to continue playing in the same aggressive way he has so far in the Twenty20 games that he has played with Warne, along with the other one-day and T20 games that he has played so far for Australia, adding that Warne's words gave him confidence to go out on the field and express himself.
Grateful that Warne has supported that way he plays his game, Faulkner also said that he is also thankful to Warne for the opportunities that he gave him when he was the captain of the domestic Melbourne Stars team, adding that he is a good friend of Warne and respects him a lot.
