Australian all rounder James Faulkner might be banned from his side's one-day series in England after being charged with a high-range drunk-driving offence and being detained in Manchester.
Faulkner, who is currently playing county cricket with Lancashire, was charged by the Greater Manchester Police after returning with a reading of 100 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on Thursday night, almost three times the UK's legal limit of 35mg.
The left-hander had been drinking with fellow Tasmanian Tim Paine and it is understood that Paine was also in the vehicle when it was stopped by police, the Guardian reported.
Cricket Australia (CA) has stated that the all-rounder made a very poor decision, insisting that the decision had potential to cause serious harm to him and others.
The all-rounder, who was one of the star performers in Australia's World Cup triumph this year, was detained overnight and then released on bail and will face trial on July21.
Faulkner also faces the possibility of being banned for two to eight matches.
