Fazle Kabir to head Bangladesh Bank after Rahman's exit

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Tuesday said that Former secretary of Finance Division Fazle Kabir will be made the new governor of Bangladesh Bank.

Muhith said Kabir, who is presently in Washington, will take over on March 18, Daily Star reports.

Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman earlier today tendered his resignation, saying that he opted to quit out of moral responsibility over the heist of US$101 million from the central bank's account with the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
