ANI Washington [U.S.A.]

FBI director James Comey is set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee scheduled for May 3.

As announced by the Senate Judiciary Committee, the hearing is for FBI oversight purposes, and not necessarily related to investigations into alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, quoted the CNN.

Earlier in March, Comey, in the hearing before the House intelligence committee, confirmed that the FBI and the Department of Justice investigated into alleged collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign.

Comey, multiple times, has defended his decisions with regard to the 2016 presidential elections.

Comey had recently said that the FBI has to act without taking into consideration which political side may or may not benefit.
