Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer has beaten Canada's Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 to set up a final clash with Juan Martin del Potro in the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel, his 10th final of the home tournament.
According to Sport24, Federer found himself in a battle with the number 40 Pospisil whom he beat in their first meeting in 2011.
The challenge was huge against the outsider, with Pospisil overcoming his nerves in the first set and turning the screws on the home favourite and 17-time grand slam champion until the end, the report said.
Federer served for a straight-set win only to lose serve as Pospisil kept up the battle, winning a second-set tie-breaker to bring on a deciding set, the report added.
He now needs only victory in the final to assure himself qualification for the ATP World Tour Finals for a 12th successive year, the report further said.
Federer said that it was very special with the public and they really helped him in a situation like this, adding that it made all of the hard training worth it.
