World number two tennis player Roger Federer, who is reportedly a self-confessed sports nut, has claimed that he would be cheering for South Africa at this year's Rugby World Cup.
Federer's mother Lynette, who met his Swiss father Robert while he was working in Gauteng, is a South African and this is where the tennis great's allegiance to the country lies.
Federer said that he would be supporting South Africa, of course, Sport24 reported.
But whether Federer would get to see South Africans play is another question. He said that he honestly doesn't see it very often, adding that he doesn't know where he is in the world when the Rugby World Cup is happening, and why he keeps missing it.
The Rugby World Cup would be held in England this year.
But, the Swiss added that he watches cricket frequently and when they go to the United States, they follow the American sports over there.
Federer claimed that in Europe it's more of the football, soccer, adding that with rugby, for some reason he doesn't see it enough, but insisted that he would be supporting South Africa.
