Eighteen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has heaped praise on Spanish maestro Rafael Nadal by describing him as an 'incredible' player after the latter recorded his 10th French Open title victory.
Nadal ended his three-year Grand Slam drought with a stunning 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka in the Roland Garros summit showdown that lasted for two hours.
The Spaniard dominated the final clash completely and didn't allow the third seeded player to stage a comeback into the match. He did not drop a set in his seven victories in Paris in 2017. Nadal scored 27 winners in contrast to Wawrinka's 19.
This was the 15th Grand Slam win for Nadal, who is referred as 'Master of Clay'.
After Nadal lifted the record title, Federer took to his Twitter account to congratulate his great rival.
"Simply incredible, Rafa #10 #RG17 #VamosRafa #justdoit," tweeted Federer, who missed the French Open, including the whole clay-court season, to shift his focus entirely on the grass-court season ahead with Wimbledon being his top priority.
Federer had defeated Nadal at the season-opening Australian Open in January besides also hammering the Spaniard in Indian Wells and Miami.
