Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer reached the final of the grass-court warm-up tournament for Wimbeldon at Halle for the ninth time as he defeated Japan's Kei Nishikori in straight sets on Saturday.
The former world number one will face Colombia's Alejandro Falla in the final, but his Davis Cup teammate Stanislas Wawrinka would be kicking his heels on Sunday after he lost to Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals of the Queen's Club event, CNN reported.
Federer, back on his favorite grass, defeated Nishikori 6-3, 7-6 in 73 minutes and would bid for his seventh title at the Gerry Weber Open tournament, the report added.
Top seed Wawrinka lost 6-2, 6-4 to Dimitrov, who has been compared in playing style to Federer and tagged as 'Baby Federer', the report further added.
