Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer was reportedly in commanding form in the first round of the US Open by easily winning his delayed match against Slovenia's Grega Zemlja 6-3, 6-2, 7-5.
According to Stuff.co.nz, the 17-time major champion took just 93 minutes to beat the 62nd-ranked Zemlja in a match-up postponed from Monday night because of rain, firing down 12 aces and 25 winners in a dominant display.
In his last Grand Slam outing, the report said that Federer suffered a shock defeat to 116th-ranked Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round at Wimbledon.
Federer is seeded seventh at Flushing Meadows, his worst since 2002, the report added.
