Switzerland's Roger Federer will face world number one Novak Djokovic in the Italian Open final after defeating compatriot Stan Wawrinka in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-final at the Foro Italico.

The world number nine Wawrinka got a 3-0 lead as Federer started off slowly, but Federer eventually got into the groove and defeated Wawrinka comfortably in the end.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Djokovic extended his unbeaten run to 21 matches as he defeated his Spanish opponent David Ferrer in straight sets.

However, the top seeded Djokovic was not happy with the clay conditions at the court as there were holes near the baselines.

The Serbian player said that it was very dangerous to play in these conditions, the BBC reported.

Federer will face Djokovic in what is their third final of 2015, following the finals of the BNP Paribas Open and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
