Retiring Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he owed his success as a manager because of his love for biscuits.

According to the Daily Star, the Scot has kept going for 27 years on KitKats, Jaffa Cakes and Tunnock's Caramel Wafers.

However, the 71-year old Ferguson has said that he is making up for his sweet tooth with regular trips to the gym, adding that he is trying to be sensible.

Meanwhile, Ferguson said that one of the reasons behind his retirement was that his wife needed a lot of his time as after her sister's death, she felt more isolated, adding that he was aware since Christmas that he would leave the club soon.

Ferguson is reportedly looking forward to spend time in South France with his family after retirement for which he has signed former international footballer Eric Cantona as his estate agent.
