Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly revealed that Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson wanted the Spanish club's manager Carlo Ancelotti to succeed him at the Premier League club last season.
Although Ferguson claims that he hand-picked David Moyes to take charge of United after 26 years in charge, but Perez said that the former boss had approached Ancelotti when he was leaving Paris Saint Germain last year to offer the Italian the chance to take over at Old Trafford, but the former Chelsea manager opted for Real instead.
According to the Guardian, Perez said that he is absolutely sure that United wanted Ancelotti as their manager, not this year, but last year, adding that Ferguson had asked the Italian to succeed him.
Ancelotti charged Real to their 10th European Cup and the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge at the Bernabeu, the report added.
