Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has backed new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, saying that the latter will prove to be a great manager for the club.

While admiring Klopp, Ferguson said that the 48-year-old is a strong personality and a determined person who would help improve Liverpool's performance, the Guardian reported.

Meanwhile, Klopp had said that he wouldn't face any problem working with Liverpool's transfer committee if he has the first and the last say on players to be allowed to play or not.

Reflecting his views on the matter, Ferguson said that manager should be allowed to decide the kind of players the club wants because it was the manager who knows his player very well.

The German's appointment came after Liverpool sacked Brendan Rodgers after their poor Premier League performances that put the five-time European champions in tenth place.

With the appointment, the former Borussia Dortmund coach became the Anfield Club's highest paid manager after he signed a three-year contract worth five million pounds a year.
