Fourth-seeded David Ferrer cruised into the tournament decider showdown as he beat Croatian opponent Ivo Karlovic in a pulsating three set thriller during their semifinal clash at the Qatar Open in Doha.
The Spaniard clinched a 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) victory over Karlovic to set up a final showdown against Tomas Berdych in Saturday's final.
During their intense two-hour 32 minute match, Ferrer lost his serve to trail 3-2 in the third-set tiebreaker. Karlovic lost the next two points on serve to set Ferrer up for the win, Sport24 reported.
However, Karlovic improved his career tally to 9 092 aces as he surpassed Andy Roddick (9 074) to lie second only to Goran Ivanisevic (10 183).
