FIFA president Sepp Blatter has confirmed that the last date for the Qatar 2022 World Cup final should not go beyond 18th December, in an attempt to protect English football's traditional Boxing Day games.
Earlier, a FIFA taskforce had recommended the tournament should be held during the winter period of November/ December.
As a result of which, the top European clubs have so far resisted suggestions that the tournament be played during their domestic season.
Reflecting on the matter, Blatter said that the World Cup would not go on until the 23rd, definitely not, adding that it was so good then to make a little bit of noise about FIFA and about the World Cup in Qatar, the BBC reported.
Blatter further said that there were more than six years - particularly seven years - to prepare, adding that there was a goodwill.
