The recently released S&M-laced 'Fifty Shades Darker' is doing far better than expected.
As per reports, the $55 million sequel has earned a solid $21.5m on its first day including $5.72m in Thursday previews and is expected to lose the weekend crown to 'The LEGO Batman' movie, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
'Fifty Shades Darker' is one-third less than 'Fifty Shades of Grey' which earned $30m in the opening day two years ago.
Universal's 'Fifty Shades Darker' seduced Friday audiences and was easy to beat Warner Bros.' animated family film, 'The Lego Batman', which took in $15 million from 4,088 locations.
Now, it seems, 'The Lego Batman' will come in closer to $55 million, while the female-fueled 'Fifty Shades Darker' could clear $47 million despite withering reviews.
The movie 'Fifty Shades Darker' reunites Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively.
