The West Bengal Disaster Management minister Javed Ahmed Khan today said that the fire which had engulfed the 15th floor of the Chatterjee International Centre building earlier this morning is now under control.

Khan told media persons, "The fire is under control and we have rescued the four people who were trapped in the building with the help of hydraulic ladder. They had breathing problems because of the smoke. We have sent them to the hospital."

"Six more fire tenders were later sent, apart from the four which were sent earlier. Fire has been extinguished on one side of the building completely. We hope the fire will be put off in the entire floor very soon," he added.

The Chatterjee building is a landmark building in the heart of the city which houses many private and government offices.
