A major fire broke out at a jute mill in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur District on Tuesday, reducing raw jute, semi-prepared stock and furniture to ashes.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. However, the fire spread quickly and burnt down most products inside the mill, including machinery.
No casualties were reported. The reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Fire safety regulations are lax, rarely implemented and not periodically reviewed in India, which results in the outbreak of major fires resulting in the loss of life and property.
