The first art exhibition organized by Kashmiri women attracted a horde of visitors and showcased the talent of the Valley's women artists.

The exhibition titled "islands of serenity" was organized by Kashmir born Sadaf Munshi in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of art culture and languages at Lal Mandi, Srinagar.

People from different corners visited the exhibition and appreciated Sadaf Munshi for organizing this type of exhibition.

Since the last few years, a number of art exhibitions have been organized here in the Valley by both Government and Non Government Organizations aimed to promote art in Kashmir.

About 29 semi-abstract works in oil and water colour by Sadaf Munshi, who resides in USA, are also exhibited in the exhibition.

"It was my earnest desire to hold the first exhibition of my paintings in my hometown Srinagar although I had many opportunities to do so in the United States or elsewhere," Munshi said.
