The first look of 'Haider', a Bollywood adaptation of Shakespeare's famous play, Hamlet, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj was launched by its actors, Shahid Kapoor, K.K. Menon, Tabu and Sharddha Kapoor, and UTV CEO, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, in Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, lead actor Shahid Kapoor expressed his happiness to be able to shoot the entire film in Kashmir.

"We were very lucky that we shot the entire film in Kashmir, so one stayed in that atmosphere throughout. There is a unique energy to Kashmir, which is difficult to describe. I think if we wouldn't have shot the entire film there we wouldn't have truly understood what we were doing. Being there, being in that atmosphere, and being with those people really helped to flow into the world one is trying to create and to bring it out to some extent," said Kapoor.

This film is the third adaptation of a Shakespearean play by Bhardwaj. Previously he has directed 'Omkara', which is an adaptation of Othello and 'Maqbool', which is an adaptation of Macbeth. Bhardwaj again through Haider tries to explore the conflict of human relationships and the negative aspects of it.

"I had Hamlet in my mind for quite some time. I had to complete my trilogy and needed commitment from an actor and before that I needed an actor. So, Shahid's work in 'Kaminey', and our rapport, and the work we had done together was a beautiful journey. So we had been meeting from a long time that we should do a film together. Haider's discussions happened and we found each other to commit to the film fully," said the director.

'Haider', is scheduled to hit the silver screens across the country on October 02, 2014.
