Australian top-order batsman Usman Khawaja, who suffered a hamstring injury during the second Test against New Zealand in the preceding series, is hoping to make a return to the national side for the Boxing Day Test against West Indies, which starts on Saturday.

The 29-year-old made a roaring comeback by scoring an unbeaten 109 from just 70 deliveries to help Sydney Thunders claim victory over the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash Twenty20 League.

Reflecting on his performance, Khawaja said that he had been feeling good while batting, insisting that he was back to normal again, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Khawaja, who was sidelined for five weeks due to injury, said that he understands the feeling of being dropped, and admitted that his inclusion in the Test side means one of his team mate would be axed.

Australia are currently leading the three-match series 1-0 following their massive innings and 212 run-win in the first Test against the West Indies.
