Five big cannons have been discovered from infamous pirate Blackbeard off the coast of North Carolina.
Scientists from the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources recovered the cannons from the Queen Anne's Revenge on Monday nearly 300 years after its death, the CNN reported.
The team, working with the Coast Guard, brought the big guns, 2,000 and 3,000 pounds, to the surface of Beaufort Inlet.
According to the expedition manager, the largest cannon is like Swedish-made, as was another of the 40 big guns onboard that was already recovered.
While the project has wrapped up for the year, archaeologists will reportedly return for one more season in 2014.
The cannons are believed to be added to the Queen Ann's Revenge exhibit in Beaufort, which has more than 280,000 artifacts.
