Three days of flash floods across three provinces in Afghanistan have left 19 people dead while more than 20 have been injured.
The provinces of Herat, Badghis, and Faryab have been affected by the flash floods, which started on Thursday.
Scores of people have been reported missing while hundreds of houses and agricultural land have been destroyed, according to TOLOnews.
"The consequences of the catastrophic are numerous. Around 200 houses only in one residential area completely or proportionally have been destroyed," the head of the emergency committee in Herat, Ahmad Jawed Nadim said. "Flash floods took away everything I had. I lost everything," Nasima, a resident of Herat told TOLOnews.
Badghis Governor's spokesman, Jamshid Shahabi, confirmed that locals have incurred heavy financial losses due to the floods. Further information is awaited.
