Flinto Learning Solutions, popularly known as Flintobox on Wednesday announced raising USD 7 million in Series A funding.

The round, which was led by Lightbox, with participation from existing investors, will help the Chennai-based startup solidify its position as the market leader in early education, and realize its mission of being the Fun Learning Partner of every child in India.

Flinto, launched in September 2013, is the brainchild of 3 young dads, Arun Prasad Durairaj, Vijay Babu Gandhi and Shreenidhi Srirangam, who personally experienced the lack of quality early education in India, and set out to change the way children learn and play. Flinto focuses on holistic learning and development of children at their two primary spaces of learning - home and preschool, through the following product lines:

-Flintobox - A subscription program designed to deliver engaging learning activities to children at home.

-FlintoClass - A comprehensive preschool system for independent/unbranded preschools, which provides world-class early learning experience to children. FlintoClass helps entrepreneurs build high-quality preschools at affordable prices, by supporting them in every aspect of running their preschools. The FlintoClass curriculum is currently available for Nursery, Pre-KG, LKG and UKG.

Showcasing the potential and value of its offerings in the early learning space, Flinto has turned profitable and is on target to reach Rs. 40 crore revenue this year.

"After establishing a dominating presence in the home space, we're expanding into the mostly unorganized and fragmented preschool market to provide the best early learning program for children across the length and breadth of the country," said CEO and co-founder Flintobox, Arunprasad Durairaj.

With FlintoClass, early learning has been standardized to deliver the same quality of education, no matter where it is delivered - be it in a state-of-the-art preschool or even under a tree. Since the preschool penetration rate in India is less than 10 percent, compared to 90+ percent in developed countries, there is tremendous room for growth. We will use the funds to further strengthen our leadership position in this space and expand across the country.

FlintoClass, termed as 'Preschool in a box' was launched in June 2017. It has already reached more than 350 preschools in 25+ cities and has changed the lives of more than 4500 children in India.

"By the same time next year, we aim to reach 1000 preschools and in the next five years, every child will grow in a Flinto environment. We're also aspiring towards a global expansion, starting with South and Middle-East Asia," added Arunprasad.

"We're excited to partner with the Flinto team, whom we've known from their inception and have gained tremendous respect for what they are building. Flinto is addressing a massive need in early childhood development by conveniently delivering a subscription-based product to your doorstep every month. Their passion for building high-quality design-led products is unparalleled," said Lightbox partner Prashant Mehta.
