Jammu and Kashmir continues to remain on a flood alert as most of the rivers in the state are flowing above the danger mark.

Continuous and heavy rains have triggered floods in Srinagar which led to twelve people losing their lives due to the massive rainfall till now.

Yesterday, water had entered the houses in Chanapora region making it difficult for the residents to step out.

Heavy rains also led to landslides on Thursday, disrupting the flow of traffic on the Jammu and Kashmir National Highway.

However, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that all flood control measures are being taken to ensure there is no loss of life.

The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Shantmanu, said that help has been sought from the armed forces and air choppers will be used for rescue work if required.

Disaster Management teams have already been deployed in all the districts of the state.
