A high alert has been sounded in Vadodara as the Sardar Sarovar Dam has overflowen after heavy rains in the catchment areas. Many low lying areas have also been submerged in the flood water.
Despite the grim situation rescue work is in full swing.
About ten thousand people have already been shifted and given shelter in the Government schools and other safer places during the past 24 hours.
The Vishwamitri River is flowing above the danger mark and most of the evacuation was made from the villages of Savli, Dabhoi and Waghodiya talukas.
Food packets, medicines and other essential commodities were also provided to the flood affected people.
