The flood situation continued to remain grim in Uttar Pradesh as rain continued to swell major rivers and cause displacement of lakhs of people.
In Varanasi, several ghats are under the water as water level in Ganga continued to rise.
Initially only the western part of the state faced the flood situation but now rivers have triggered damage in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, as well.
According to reports, almost one million hectare of cultivable land has been damaged and approximately 299 livestock have fallen victim across 15 districts of the state.
The River Ganges is rising at Kannauj, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, whereas the River Yamuna is in spate at Baghpat, Auraiyya, Hamirpur, Banda and Allahabad.
