Former NCW member asks Sandeep Kumar's wife not to defend him

ANI New Delhi, [India]

Urging the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to clear its stand in connection with the sex CD row involving ex-minister Sandeep Kumar, former National for Commission (NCW) member Shamina Shafiq on Monday also asked the ousted leader's wife to seek an enquiry against her husband rather than defending him.

Shafiq said even if there is one percent truth in the statement of Kumar's wife then that angle must also be probed.

"AAP needs to clear its stand. We see Ashutosh justifying the act of the former cabinet minister. Now, his wife is taking his side. I would like to say that if there is even point one percent truth in what she says then this angle should also be probed," said Shafiq.

"And whether you are wife of the guilty or the sister or you are anybody associated with a person, who has exploited his position of power. I think that person should be condemned and his wife should actually ask for an enquiry to find out what had happened other than justifying her husband's deed," she added.

Kumar's wife Ritu has come out in his support and said that her husband has been "falsely implicated".

"My husband is innocent, I stand by him. Rape charges against my husband are wrong," she said yesterday.

The Delhi Police earlier on Saturday registered an FIR against Kumar after which he was arrested late in the evening. The action came after the woman, who featured in the sex CD, turned up at the Sultanpuri Police Station and accused the ex-AAP minister of raping her.

The woman in her complaint said that she had approached Kumar for a ration card and was trapped.

Claiming that the incident took place 11 months back, the woman alleged that he took her to a place, which she can't recall, gave her a drink laced with sedatives and raped her.

The lady also said that she was unaware that she was being filmed.
