Former Nepal premier Sher Bahadur Deuba calls on PM Modi

Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Friday.

"Had a meeting with Shri Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Minister of Nepal," Prime Minister Modi said on twitter.

Deuba thanked the Prime Minister for India's quick reaction and assistance in the aftermath of two powerful earthquakes in Nepal.

He appreciated India's pledge of USD 1 billion announced at the donors' conference in Kathmandu in June 2015.

Prime Minister Modi said that India is fully committed to supporting Nepal in the reconstruction effort, and commended the people of Nepal for their resilience in facing this grave tragedy.

 

Deuba briefed the Prime Minister on the developments relating to adoption of a new Constitution in Nepal.

The Prime Minister appreciated the recent progress and expressed hope that outstanding issues would be resolved at the earliest, so that the Constitution that is adopted enjoys the support of all sections of the society and helps build an inclusive, stable and prosperous Nepal.
