In a bid to start environmentally friendly racing, Formula One cars have been given electric makeovers and will be handed over to 20 drivers to race around ten city circuits around the world' most polluted cities.
The Formula E (electric) will start from Beijing with 20 drivers including two women.
According to the Mirror, each driver will have two zero-emission high-performance, with a top speed of 150 mph, changing vehicles half way through when the initial battery starts to run out.
Hollywood stars Lionardo DiCaprio and Richard Branson are backing their two teams and seem to have committed themselves completely to the new race.
Chairman of the FIA Jean Todt said that they have certain responsibilities to keep up with the world's changing pattern.
He said that he believed electric cars were the future of motoring in the cities and that's the reason they were beginning to host races in world cities.
