At least four security personnel were killed and seven others were injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada District on Monday.
The 11-member Chattisgarh Armed Forces security team was heading towards Kirandul in an anti-landmine vehicle when the incident occurred.
According to reports, 50 kilograms of explosives were tossed at the anti-landmine vehicle.
"It was quite a heavy blast, the vehicle had 11 security personnel, and all of them were injured in the blast," said R K Vij, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations)
"The police reached on time and took them to hospital. Four personnel have been martyred, the rest have been airlifted to Raipur," he added.
Vij further said there was an exchange of fire between the rebels and the security personnel soon after the blast.
