Number of activists and leaders of the agitating farmers were detained by the Haryana Police in Gharaunda, ahead of their march towards Delhi on Friday.

The farmers were protesting here demanding a complete loan waiver, which was promised by the state government during elections.

They raised slogans against Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar Government for turning deaf ears towards the woes of the farmers.

A member of the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh said that they only have two demands from the Government i.e. waiving of farmers loan and implement of Swaminathan Commission Reports.

"We just want the promises made by the government should be fulfilled. First is to waive off the loans as promised during the election campaign and second to implement the report of Swaminathan Commission," he said.

"The administration is following dictatorship. The farmers are being arrested from various places so that we don't reach Delhi," he added.

Another farmer criticised the Khattar government for their behaviour towards the farmers and said that such response has never been witnessed under any government.

"We were just agitation, we are not terrorists. We are the citizens of this state only. They have to bear the consequences of their action in the coming elections," he said.

The Swaminathan Commission Report suggests reforms in the interests of farmers which could provide a solution to farmers problem.
